Political Science is the study of politics - the art of the possible. Political scientists study power, democracy, political ideas and institutions, at the national and the international level.
The Master's Programme in Political Science is a state of the art education preparing you for a career in the field of advanced social analysis. Political scientists typically find employment within the fields of advanced research and investigation, power monitoring (journalism, research) or public opinion formation within the public or private sector. For those aiming for an international professional career, a Master's degree is normally a precondition.
The Master's Programme in Political Science is a two year education organized in four semesters leading to a Master of Science(120 hec) with a major in Political Science. Course work in the first semester explores the major analytical perspectives in contemporary political science, and offers general and in-depth knowledge of the main research areas of the dicipline. The second semester includes courses closely tied to the department's research profiles, such as electoral studies and public opinion, and political institutions and corruption (2 x 15 hec). The third semester offers the choice between electives, studies abroad or internships (15 hec), and equips students with advanced knowledge of research methods (15 hec). The Programme ends with students' opportunity to apply and develop the theoretical and methodological skills gained, through the research project of their Master's thesis (30 hec).
