Fine, Applied and Performing Arts

The University of Gothenburg offers a wide range of artistic education, and has a long tradition of training successful and internationally-recognised artists of various kinds.

The Academy of Music and Drama is the only university college in Sweden to offer both music and theatre education and opera training. The School of Design and Crafts and Valand School of Fine Arts – two of Sweden’s best-known and respected art schools – are also part of the University of Gothenburg.

The School of Photography and the School of Film Directing share the same excellent reputation as the other artistic institutions in Gothenburg. Science, Medicine, Odontology and Health

With its unique education, prominent research and even a Nobel Prize, the University of Gothenburg is one of Europe’s leading educational institutions when it comes to science, medicine and odontology. For those with an interest in natural sciences and scientific solutions to human problems, we have a variety of fascinating subjects and programmes to choose from.

Within health sciences there is a comprehensive range of education at both first-cycle level and master’s level, preparing students for future professions in medical care, dental care, pharmaceuticals, healthcare or research. Studies are carried out in close contact with industry and advanced research within every field from medicine to biotechnology.

Our education in natural sciences includes a frequent focus on sustainable development. Here you can study how we can achieve a toxin-free environment with healthy seas and forests, or look for the answers to universal questions such as the mystery of ageing and the possibility of finding life elsewhere in the universe.
