Erasmus placement programme

The Erasmus placement programme gives you, as a student of the University of Gothenburg, the opportunity to apply for a placement grant for a work placement in Europe (outside of Sweden). You can do your placement at a company, an organisation as well as a centre for education and research. See Guidelines for more detailed information.

Who can apply?

To be authorised to apply for an Erasmus placement grant, you must:

  • be registered as a full-time student at the University of Gothenburg at the time of your application.
  • have not previously received a work placement grant through Erasmus or Leonardo da Vinci. However, you may have received a previous Erasmus grant for studies. Students within Erasmus Mundus Joint Master cannot take part in the programme.
  • not simultaneously receive another EU-funded grant or SIDA’s resestipendium.  
  • have agreed on a placement with a company or organsiation.
  • do a full-time placement  for 3-6 months at one singel organisation/company for a coherent period. Please note that some placements are not approaved as an Erasmus placement.
  • have your placement credited or recognised by the University of Gothenburg. The placement should be part in a future degree at the Unviersity of Gothenburg.
  • The work placement must be in a country that takes part in the Erasmus programme.


The application deadline has passed for now but applications will be considered continuously if grants are still available.

Please note that students who have studied for at least one year at the University of Gothenburg and who intend to complete their degree at the University of Gothenburg are given priority in the selection process. Please also note that the University of Gothenburg is only granting students for a maximum of six months to make sure that as many students as possible can take part in the programme.

NEWS 2011/2012: Swedish public employers and international offices at foreign universities are now included in the Erasmus programme. The programme has also opened for placements in Switzerland and Croatia.
