Apply for SI Scholarships
The Swedish Institute, a government agency, administers over 500 scholarships each year for students and researchers coming to Sweden. If you want to study at the University of Gothenburg, you can apply for one of these scholarships. Which scholarship you should apply for depends on which country you come from.
The Swedish Institute Study Scholarships
- The Swedish Institute Study Scholarships have two categories.
- Category 1 are aimed at highly qualified students from Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
- Category 2 are aimed at highly qualified students from countries on the DAC list* of ODA recipients.
- The scholarship is available for master’s and bachelor’s degree level programmes.
- It covers both the tuition fee and living expenses to the amount of SEK 8,000 per month. A travel grant is also issued to the recipient.
* A few countries are excluded since SI provides other scholarship targeted to Albania, Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Georgia, Kosovo, Moldova, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine.
The Visby Programme- Baltic Sea Region Exchange Programme
- The programme is open to applicants from Belarus, Estonia Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine.
- Depending on which of these countries you come from the programme exists at master’s level, PhD/doctoral studies and post-doc research, as well as for studies of the Swedish language at any level.
- The scholarship coverage depends on your level of study and your eligibility for a travel grant depends on which country you come from.
SI Scholarships for East Europe
- The scholarships for East Europe are aimed at applicants from Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Georgia, Kosovo, Moldova and Serbia.
- The scholarship is available for master’s and bachelor’s degree level programmes.
- It covers both the tuition fee and living expenses to the amount of SEK 8,000 per month. A travel grant is also issued to the recipient.
Swedish-Turkish Programme
- The programme is open to citizens of Turkey pursuing master’s level or advanced level studies in Sweden in the field of social sciences and law, such as International and European Relations, European Affairs, European Law, or Human Rights Law.
- The scholarship covers both the tuition fee and living expenses to the amount of SEK 8,000 per month. A travel grant is also issued to the recipient.
